The user interface has been designed with simplicity and ease of use in mind, including only the elements necessary for querying a given method, whereas the unnecessary elements are hidden from view. The existing elements can be categorized as either static or dynamic.

Using the tool is straightforward, since each selected method populates the necessary parameter fields. Most parameters require a simple one line text input or dropdown selection. The only exception to this rule are the POST methods which expect a JSON object as part of the request.

JSON objects should be built from an existing template. Some JSON object templates can be obtained by copying the response of a GET method that is related to the desired method. For instance, the JSON object template for the “Contact Method Update” method is obtainable by copying the response of the “Get Contact Methods” method. Changes can be made directly in the Object text area. After the desired changes have been made to the values of the outgoing JSON object, press the Submit button to send the request to the server. After a short wait, the response text area will contain the related JSON response.

Another request can be made to AXIS without having to clear the results of a previously-made request. All that is necessary is for the previously-inputted form data to be replaced with new data, followed by re-submitting the form.
